ABOUT OUR MEATHOLOGY
The farm's nestled among organic vineyards and protected meadows (we're talking NATURA 2000 territory here), so our furry friends ain't dealing with any nasty pesticides or chemicals. They're munching on fresh grass in the summer, and we hook them up with the crispy hay from our own production in the winter. These ultra-chill conditions are all thanks to Mother Nature herself, right around Štúrovo in the Hegyfarok wine region (that's "tail of the mountain" for you). Don't go looking for an actual mountain, though; it's more like a lil' tail of the Belianske hills or also called Hills of “Obid” all covered in our fave greenery - vineyards... wanna know the spot?
It’s right here!
STEAKOLOGY
You diggin’ steaks and wanna whip 'em up at home? Keep on reading!
Want the lowdown on this heavenly praised slab of yum? But what's a steak really mean??? The Oxford dictionary's gonna break it down for you: it's a thick slice of meat perfect for grillin' or oven roastin'. It'll even spill the beans on where the word comes from. Turns out, it's got its vibe from Old Norse steik, relating to "steikja" meaning "roasted on a stick" and "stikna" as in "to be roasted".
Let’s meet Angus.
So, Angus cattle, right? Let's dive into the world of beef, but let us lay it down in a more casual vibe. When we're talking prime steaks, Angus beef, also known as Aberdeen Angus, is pretty much the MVP. These beasts are like the tanks of the cow world, super strong and can chill in pretty much any weather without breaking a sweat. A full-grown bull? Dude can weigh up to 850 -1400 kg. And the ladies, the cows, aren't exactly lightweights either, hitting around 550 kg. Yeah, you definitely don't want to get stepped on by one of those!
These animals got their start in Scotland, and the guy who basically put them on the map was Hugh Watson. Digging into the history books, it turns out most Angus cattle today can trace their family tree back to a couple of OGs from the 19th century that Watson was raising. So, next time you're savoring a juicy steak, you've got a bit of Scottish heritage on your plate!
